For our Class Activity this week, we planned an Easter lesson to get the girls thinking about the Savior and the last week of his life. We started out with an Easter egg hunt. (which we did inside because it was a little chilly to go outdoors.)
As you can see, I am pretty obvious in my hiding places. Oh well.
After all the eggs were found they opened them up. Inside each egg was a few words that they had to piece together to read a scripture. The scripture was John 3:16-17;
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
We then had a brief explanation about the Savior's purpose and role here on earth.
The Church has been posting new Bible Videos on the church website www.lds.org . We took the time to download the ones pertaining to Easter. They are beautifully done. ( I highly recommend you take the time to watch them.)
We then watched them together as a group and talked about each scene as it unfolded. The videos started at the Last Supper and continued until Mary saw Jesus at the Tomb.
All in all, watching the videos took about 40 minutes.
The girls then got to create their own recreation of our activity to take home to share within their own families for FHE or for an Easter family activity. Each bag contained a set of 10 eggs to put the scripture word strips in, a DVD copy of the Bible videos, and a a brief synopsis of the last week of his life.
(Of course, we also had refreshments!)
