Caleb's banana car came in 1st at our Pinewood Derby this year! (Hooray!)

It was a really close race, with the 2nd place car coming in .03 seconds behind.

Banana Pinewood Derby Car

This year our son wanted to make a banana car for the pinewood derby. 

I think it turned out pretty good!

Red White and Blue Wooden Stars Trio

I have been trying to come up with some stars to use for the 4th of July or other patriotic holidays. I drew a picture, showed my husband what I wanted and he of course did the measuring, cutting (basically all the math!) and made it happen for me.
I will say that they are a bit fussy to assemble (okay really fussy) and we did resort to some wood filler along the seams, but after painting them you can't even tell. We also learned through much trial and error that using  a brad-nailer worked so much better than regular nails. I am in love!
