Here's a few ideas for the different squares on your activity mat:
This is simply a piece of ribbon with some iron-on animals, and velcro tabs.
ribbons and big buttons
different textured ribbon tabs
zippers
curly hair ribbons, tacked down with ribbon
beads
a finger puppet with pocket
soft bands tacked down with ribbon
ribbons sewn into a seam
